2008 Toyota Prius Hybrid Review
The Prius offers a new design
The American car industry has been evolving from muscle cars to compact gas efficient cars. Prius gives hybrid another definition.
The fun and comfort design enhances driver comfort. Every time you are idling hybrid cars run on electric. The Toyota Prius is equipped with a 1.5L DOHC inline 4 cylinder Hybrid engine. Many other features include clock, trip, chrome grill, rear spoiler, remote power locks, power windows, power steering, cup holder, climate control, and AM/FM CD player. Prius is equipped with 4-Wheel ABS, traction controls, dual front side mounted air bags, passenger air bags, driver air bags, low tire waning and low fuel warnings.
The Prius continues to dominate hybrid sales and still accounts for more than half the market. Even with the more-stringent EPA test procedures, it’s rare for everyday drivers to match government fuel-economy ratings, in this case 48 city mpg and 45 highway. Nevertheless, the front-drive Prius delivers exceptional fuel economy: 54 mpg on a suburban test loop, 50 mpg on the highway in our real-world test.
There are two Prius trim levels, base and Touring, and both use a 110-net-horsepower gasoline-electric hybrid propulsion system.
Long the dean of hybrid automobiles, the Toyota Prius puts out 89 percent fewer emissions than average vehicles, a rating which actually exceeds the Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle standards.
Standard features on the Prius include power rack and pinion steering and a tilt steering column. All wheel anti-lock brakes with electronic brake assist and brake force distribution are present. The base upholstery on the 2008 Toyota Prius is cloth with the front seats being dual reclining buckets.
