Nissan Leaf, won World Car of the Year 2011
Nissan Leaf, won World Car of the Year title in 2011 in the seventh annual World Car Award in New York, United States, Thursday, April 21.
This car set aside the Audi A8 sedan and BMW 5 Series.
"This is a tremendous honor," said Brian Carolin, vice president of sales and marketing of Nissan North America, as quoted page detroitnews.com, today, 21 April.
"Nissan has become an agent of change in the game," he asserted.
The award is a new sign for the car that claimed the latest high-performance and fuel economy that is currently on display in the title of New York Auto Show 2011. In addition to conventional-engined cars, in a celebration that also exhibited a number of electric and hybrid cars.
Another award, the World Green Car, granted to General Motors-made electric car, the Chevrolet Volt. This car is able to outperform the BMW 320d and Nissan Leaf in that category.
Italian cars, Ferrari 458, managed to get a gift of World Performance Car. The car was beat SLS AMG Mercedes Benz and Porsche 911 Turbo.
The Aston Martin RAPIDE ranks first in the category World Design Car. British luxury car that, aside Alfa Romeo Giulietta and Ferrari 458.
Selection of the best car was made by 66 automotive journalist from around the world. They held a celebration of it every year.
