Mitsubishi Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid truck 2006
The Canter features Mitsubishi Fuso's own parallel hybrid system. The battery has high power and energy density, enabling reductions in size and mass. Significant fuel efficiency and exhaust emissions improvements were realized, and its easy-to-drive performance reduces driving burden.
The Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid truck will let us show that transport services can be more environmentally friendly in urban traffic."
The Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid will document its fuel-saving potential in both of these user scenarios.
"Mitsubishi Fuso offers the Fuso Canter Eco Hybrid in Japan since 2006, and hits the growing interest of costumers in Europe," says Alexander Müller, head of Sales and Marketing at Mitsubishi Fuso Europe. The vehicles used in Europe's largest hybrid truck fleet test were manufactured by Daimlers subsidiary Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) as a small batch and combine two different technologies: hybrid components, e.g. electric motor, and the Euro 4 powertrain of the series-produced 7.5-ton Fuso Canter. Two specialized Mercedes-Benz service centers are located in the London metropolitan area to support customers in the ongoing operation of the hybrid trucks. The fleet test of the Fuso Canter Hybrid in London is another important milestone in Daimler's "Shaping Future Transportation" initiative. Daimler is the global market leader when it comes to commercial vehicles with hybrid drives. Moreover, a total of 300 Fuso Canter Eco Hybrids have been delivered to customers since 2006. In addition, Mitsubishi Fuso also offers the Fuso Aero Star Eco Hybrid route bus in Japan.
Canter Eco Hybrid, along with another Mitsubishi Fuso hybrid vehicle, already on the market, strengthen the role of technological leadership in this segment MFTBC. Mitsubishi Fuso Aero launched in 2004 Nonstep HEV, a city bus with capacity for 68 passengers and powered with hybrid technology.
The environmental benefits of the new vehicle are only tested on the basis of the great reduction of pollutant emissions, confirming a decrease in nitrogen oxide of 41% and 46% reduction in particulate emissions compared to vehicles with conventional engines.
The new Canter Eco Hybrid meets those standards, the toughest in the world, a year before his application and before any other vehicle.
The plant hybrid diesel-electric motor installed in the vehicle managed to increase the efficiency of fuel consumption by 20% compared with traditional engine models. The Canter Eco Hybrid diesel and may only need to be refueled at any gas station that has this fuel.
The central components of the Canter Eco Hybrid system Hybrid is the new diesel engine in conjunction with an ultra thin 35 Kw electrical generator, batteries, lithium-ion high-performance and advanced automated manual transmission Inomata-II.
The Canter Eco Hybrid is characterized by its parallel hybrid system. * An idle system Stop & Start (ISS) for the engine automatically when the transmission is changed to N (neutral or neutral), saving fuel and reducing emissions. * The Canter Eco Hybrid offers the same load capacity than the same conventional model of Canter and the same possibilities of bodywork.
The Canter Eco Hybrid was developed by a functional team using the Fuso Product Development System (FPD).
