2013 Lexus ES350 and 300h hybrid review
Since its inception in 1989, the Lexus line listed on its core values of integrated functionality, a sober and discreet luxury. The ES350 grows one centimeter in length and 1.7 total 192.7 inches wheelbase 111.0; height increases 0.8 inches to 57.1, while the width is the same at 71.7 inches.
Lexus is particularly proud of 0.27 coefficient of drag ES, said over the previous generation number by 0.01. Front seat passengers get a tiny 0.1 inches tall and 0.3 inches of shoulder room, not worth mentioning except increasing contrast the relatively large gains made in the back seat where the height increased by 0, 7 inches, and legroom is a whopping 4.1 inches. Interestingly, of 31 miles per gallon on the EPA's 2013 top score of 2012 Highway 28 miles per gallon improvement chalk to reduce the total weight (Lexus ensures a reduction of about 50 pounds) and retouching Aerodynamic mentioned.
Acceleration is, uh, nice, and the torque steer is kept under reasonable control. The transmission rate between three modes: Normal, Eco and Sport reveals significant changes in the behavior of the ES350: Normal keeps the engine in the power band without being harsh, Eco reduces throttle response and modifies the A / C operation for efficiency, Sport mode speeds up the throttle response and the effort increases by 20 percent of management. Front and rear shocks have a few internal moods to improve ride quality and stability.
The new ES 350 and ES First Hybrid raise the bar once again. The new low-friction engine uses a sophisticated power management and high compression ratio (12.5:1) to increase overall efficiency. The design of the belt less helps improve fuel economy and overall reliability.
Low friction material further improves efficiency and help with estimates of the 350 ES EPA fuel economies of 21 mpg city, 31 mpg highway and 24 mpg combined.
Both the ES 350 and ES 300h according to a mode selector unit. Sport mode increases the responsiveness of the propulsion system and steering, and the ES 300h, changes in intellectual property from the hybrid energy monitor to a tachometer. The 300h IS adds an EV mode that allows short drives at low speed, using only the energy of the hybrid battery.
The SE is equipped with standard tires 215/55R17 low rolling resistance tires on alloy wheels of 17 inches. The ES 350 offers optional high-gloss 17-inch wheels and for the first time, 18-inch high gloss alloy wheels.
The ES 350 sports dual exhaust pipes, while the ES 300h features a unique design with hidden rear exhaust and a rear spoiler integrated. Additional foot space under the front seat increases the comfort of rear passengers.
The SE has a class leading 10 airbags as standard equipment, including the driver and front passenger knee, front and seat-mounted air bags and the rear seat-mounted side airbags and airbags side curtain front and rear.
The 2013 Lexus ES markets a substance with its new design tricks, but must attract the interest of adventurous style and a hybrid version for the first time ES.
Available as an ES V-6 350 or 300h first hybrid ES, the ES became longer and higher for 2013. In a preview of the media, I took the two drive trains ES along with the previous generation.
The ES front-wheel-drive Lexus takes "axis" grill - more of an hourglass fat - up front, taking advantage of the similarities of the recently reinvented RWD sedan GS. Seventeen-inch alloy wheels are standard, with optional 18 years in the ES 350.
Sport mode reduces steering assistance for the feedback direction substantially better. The ES used to have a tendency to adjust suddenly wheel back to center. Ride quality - a mark of the previous car - remains strong. All models share the same suspension tuning IS. An adaptive suspension that Lexus offers two previous generations of the ES, not available.
The ES is still front-wheel drive with no options only all-wheel drive as opposed to competition from Acura, Infiniti, BMW, Audi, Cadillac and Mercedes. The Lexus GS does not offer the option.
IS 300H hybrid pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with two motor-generators and a continuously variable automatic transmission 200 horsepower combined compared with the 350 GB of 268 hp. Drive Select mode blocks so if the car EV nickel-metal hydride battery power is too low or if you press the accelerator too much power. Stand on the pedal, even in EV mode, and the spring at full power IS 300H at times.
With an unlade weight and better aerodynamics, EPA mileage on the ES 350 is up mpg in the city 21/31 / highway, an overall improvement of about 2 miles per gallon in the last IS.
Luggage compartment in the ES 350 is 15.2 cubic feet, 0.5 cubic feet compared with the ES past. Typical of a hybrid, the 300h IS battery placed behind the rear seats, reducing trunk volume of 12.1 cubic feet. Like the previous generation, the ES 350 receives a center pass-through, but no rear seat folded, the ES 300h has no opening at all.
Lexus NuLuxe imitation leather upholstery, available in cars like the CT 200h, is standard. ES Last year I had leather as standard.
Other entry luxury cars, including Lexus 200h own CT, are more convincing fashion dash, and the Chrysler sedan may come wrapped in genuine leather. While the ES is not impressive 12.3-inch extension of the GS 'system is intuitive enough to work when the car is stationary.
Standard features on the ES 350 include keyless access with push-button start, dual zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, power front seats, CD stereo USB / iPod comparable, Bluetooth phone operation and faux leather upholstery. Genuine leather, heated and ventilated seats, parking sensors front and rear, navigation system and a panoramic sunroof are among the options.
