Peugeot Onyx with hybrid V8
The Peugeot Onyx dived yesterday through a back entrance, but today presents Peugeot Onyx really in full regalia. With a centrally positioned V8, carbon fiber bodywork, and a weight of only 1,100 kg we know that the Peugeot serious.
This year again many know Peugeot eyes focus with a radical concept. The Onyx is obviously only an exercise, but one that shows that Peugeot themselves as sports brand wants to profile itself. We know the French manufacturer to date because of more comfortable and compact family cars than lightweight supercars. And the Onyx is an instant hit there to change that. All production stages will unfortunately never be achieved.
Carbon
what course will immediately notice the dark sheet metal entirely of lightweight carbon fiber is increased. As the child frame however that this only 100 kg. Developed in collaboration with Peugeot Sport - known from the Le Mans racers - the Onyx is designed to be as aerodynamic as possible. With a CD-coefficient of just 0.30, this amply succeeded. On the roof, in line with the sporty RCZ, a double-bubble created.
Peugeot Onyx |
As befits a true sports car, the engine right behind the driver. Peugeot has therefore not just an engine pulled from the shelf, but the 3.7-liter HDi FAP V8 block that served in the latest generation of Peugeot's Le Mans racers borrowed. With an output of 600 hp, coupled to a six-speed sequential gearbox, the Onyx is nothing but a serious racer. For that extra little bit to make, a potent powertrain Hybrid4 the V8 paired and there is thus a further 80 additional hp during acceleration. With a total weight of 1,100 kg, this means more than 600 hp per tonne. More than a Bugatti Veyron so!
Interior
as we have seen in many a concept model the interior is completely unrealistic. It is a one-piece molded plastic block. The dashboard is the head-up display mounted where numerous details about the car and the engine can be read. Between the seats is a camera mounted which allows for any special journey to capture for posterity, says Peugeot.
Superbike
Peugeot has besides the Onyx also developed a matching accessory, the Onyx Concept Bike. The bike is just like the car entirely built of carbon fiber and also equipped with an electric motor. This allows you to ride to work in an unprecedented time to go. Peugeot sees the Onyx Concept Bike also a future in the Tour de France, although the electric motor will likely have to retreat.
SuperTrike
All good things come in threes when it comes to Onyx because besides the car and bicycle is also the trike. This Onyx Concept Scooter has two wheels in front and one behind as midway between the car and engine. Also this trike has a hybrid powertrain. V8 but not a 400-cc gasoline engine, coupled to an electric motor. This combination delivers 61 hp and has only two liters of fuel to travel 100 km to go. The "attitude" of the trike can be changed. In Sport mode the leaning trike more for an aerodynamic position of the driver and Urban-position especially comfort front with the normal seating position.
