Renault R-Space Concept at the Geneva Motor Show


French car maker, Renault unveiled their new small car, R-Space Concept at the Geneva Motor Show earlier today. Thanks to leftlanenews.com, we have some wonderful images from the launch.

The front and rear doors open in opposite direction, which gives the car a futuristic look.

Mr Laurence Widmer, Materials and Colors, Head, Renault R-Space Concept, said during launch, “The tenderness and warmth of these shared moments find their expression in tones that are hot and ‘sweet’: the white of the milk, the golden shades of the honey, the brown of the chocolate.”

R-Space, or Espace, this is the question. Borrowing the same flashy orange seen on the Captur concept, the" R-Space "is a design exercise meant, according to Renault, to prove that an MPV can be sexy too. Under the hood of the R-SPace model lies a three-cylinder 900 cc petrol engine mated to an Efficient Dual Clutch transmission (EDC), which develops an impressive 110 horsepower. The engine is a concept in itself, as it previews the new range of modular TCe engines called Energy TCe.

According to Renault the R-Space, with its sporty, sculpted silhouette and rear-hinged rear doors, proves that a compact people-carrier .

"Renault" is also looking at a new crossover model, drawing on the experience of its partner Nissan with the highly successful Qashqai. Renault’s most recent attempt at an SUV-type vehicle, the Koleos, was less than successful.

Ms Foucher also reveals that she is a fan of reviving the Alpine sub-brand.
