2011 Honda Insight Hybrid
The Honda Insight is a “dedicated” Hybrid.
Unlike many hybrids, the Insight can’t run on electricity alone in the city, so the mileage is a little higher on the highway. The Base Trim has a tilt-telescope steering wheel, a height-adjustable driver seat, full power accessories, climate control, and keyless entry. The Insight comes with traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes with brake-assist, side front airbags, side curtain airbags, and also has active front head restraints. It got perfect 5-star ratings for driver safety under last year’s testing standards, and 4 stars for passenger safety.
Conclusions and driver feedback:
That is big for any car, but the “holy grail” for many hybrid buyers. The price tag is inexpensive for a hybrid, too. The Insight handles well.
Way back in 2009 we took a look at Honda’s Insight, which brought Honda into the mainstream hybrid market and promised to make hybrid motoring more affordable. The engine noise was a little distracting, with my wife declaring it was enough to put her off considering an Insight. Well there’s a new version of the Insight out, which has apparently taken into account feedback from customers and reviewers. First up, suspension. If I’m honest, I didn’t think the ride was bad in the previous Insight.
Soundproofing next. Since soundproofing isn’t a visible thing it’s easy to overlook, but as I mentioned the previous Insight had an “interesting” engine note that totally put my wife off the car. The litmus test? I tested the top-of-the-line Insight EX, which comes with leather upholstery, heated front seats, built-in satellite navigation (with voice control) and bluetooth hands-free. The basic Insight is available from £16,995 OTR, and the EX starts at £20,995.
