Toyota celebrate 4million full hybrid in the world
Since its launch, back in August of 1997, the Coaster Hybrid EV minibus, followed in December by the first edition of the Prius, Toyota has strongly believed in the hybrid, exporting this technology in North America, Europe and other countries from 2000.
In 2003 she was presented the second generation Prius, the hybrid then extends to other categories of vehicles such as SUVs, minivans and large sedans with rear wheel drive.
If in 2009, with the arrival of the third generation Prius, Toyota hybrid sales cumulative already reached 2 million units, on April 30, 2012 was granted a new record sales of "full hybrid Toyota and Lexus in the world have reached the threshold of 4 million cars", including 423,000 in Europe alone.
Currently in Europe, Toyota vehicles with this technology are "Prius, Auris Hybrid and, in short, Yaris Hybrid, but later come Prius + and Prius Plug-in", whereas about 80 countries around the world, are currently selling 19 models full hybrid Toyota, set to increase in the near future. In 2012, the number of hybrid of the Japanese was equal to 15% of global sales and Toyota, in Europe, 10% of total sales of Toyota and Lexus vehicles.
Toyota has calculated that the full hybrid vehicles, 1997-30 April 2012, they have prevented about 26 million tons of CO2 emissions compared to gasoline vehicles of comparable size and performance. In 2012, Toyota wants to increase the share of "full hybrid Toyota and Lexus" up to 14% in Europe.
